Omar and Anya, Omie's creators, have both been on a long, bumpy language learning journey. From painstakingly making spaced repetition flash cards to using Duolingo (and a million other apps and tutors), they tried it all. But can they confidently chat with a native speaker in French or Spanish? Not really 😬.

So, like true nerds 🤓, they decided to build a chatbot to help them practice listening and speaking without the pressure, with the goal to finally talk to real people someday 😅.

Our vision is to create a language learning tool that goes beyond basic vocabulary and grammar lessons. The goal is to help people practice real conversations, receive immediate feedback, and have a personalized learning pathway to fluency.
